Can I use cocktail machines for kids parties?

Yes you can definitely use cocktail machines for kids parties just simply don’t add alcohol.

Can I use my own cordial or fizzy drink to make extra drinks?

No, you cannot add your own mix to the cocktail machine. This is because the cocktail machine requires a specially formulated mix so that it freezes at the right consistency. If you add your own mix it may not freeze at all, or it might freeze too much and break the gear box in the cocktail machine, and you would then be liable for the repairs. If you are concerned that you may run out of cocktail mix during the night, you can order extra refills for your cocktail machine.

Can we have one side with alcohol and one without?

We do not provide the alcohol so it is up to you if you want to add alcohol on both sides, or just one side. A lot of our customers do have half the machine for adults and half for kids. However we strongly encourage that if you are putting alcohol in only one side that you closely supervise it and ensure that no under age child can reach or access the machine without an adult’s permission. In this case it is probably a better idea to add alcohol individually to each drink after it is poured so that kids don’t accidentally use the wrong side.

Do I need to add ice to the machine?

No, the cocktail machine turns the cocktail mix into ice on its own.

Does the cocktail machines come with alcohol?

It is illegal for a cocktail machine hire company to provide you with the alcohol unless they have a liquor license.

Does the customer need to provide anything?

Yes, you need to supply one standard power point and a sturdy table or bench top for the machine to sit on that can hold 80kgs. Plastic trestle tables and glass tables cannot be used. There also needs to be at least 30cm clearance around machine to allow air flow to motor.

How long does it take for the liquid to freeze?

In most cases a twin bowl cocktail machine will take between 2 – 4 hours, however the time may vary depending on the room temperature. The higher the temperature, the longer it will take to freeze. On a very hot day the cocktail machine may take up to 4/5 hours or more to freeze. Cocktail machine cannot be set up in direct sunlight.

How many cocktails will I get from a twin bowl machine?

You will get approximately 60 drinks per 12L Bowl or one side, so 120 drinks for a twin bowl cocktail machine . You will also get 60 drinks out of any refill bottles.

How much alcohol should I add?

Depending on how strong you like your drinks we usually suggest one 700 ml bottle of alcohol per side of machine for weaker drinks and 2 bottles per side for stronger drinks. Any more than this will make the cocktails too strong.

What alcohol do I add?

Depending on what flavours you choose and what types of alcohol you like will depend on what you add to the cocktail mix. The most common types of alcohol used are Vodka, Midori and Bourbon depending on cocktail flavour. You cannot add milk base alcohols to the machine as they will not freeze and will damage the machines.

When do I add the alcohol?

It is very important not to add any alcohol until machine is fully frozen. Alcohol does not freeze and if added before mix is frozen will stop the mix from freezing and you will have only liquid coming out of the machine. If you add alcohol just before you are about to serve it you will have no issues.
